Just got back from Cambodia. It was my fourth time there, and my second time this year. Once again I discovered the country with a different perspective. If you ask me which country in Asia you must visit I would definitely recommend Cambodia as number one for many reasons. But I’m biased because I have family there.
Here are some of my ‘magic moments’ I had in Cambodia during my fourth visit.
Kids smiling everywhere
There’s nothing better than a kid smiling at you. Smiling is a way to say hello in Cambodia. Cambodians know you are a foreigner so they want to say hello in their way. Considering that one third of the population is under 15 years old, yes you might see a lot of kids along your way.
Losing myself in Angkor temples
That feeling of being lost in ancient temples. You know there are hundreds of tourists nearby. It’s crowded and noisy and as you explore a little bit further all of sudden you are by yourself, completely lost in another time, another dimension. It’s like being transported into another dimension, another world. What an amazing feeling.
Watching 5 million of bats coming out of Battambang cave
What an extraordinary natural phenomenon that everyday just before sunset, an estimated 5 million of bats come out of a cave. It takes about an hour and half for all bats to fly out of the cave!
Sunrise at Angkor Wat
If you plan to visit Angkor temples, I would highly recommend you to go and watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat at around 6AM. The temple is open at 5:30AM. So it’s worth waking up at 4:30AM!
Sunset on Cambodian beaches
We went on Otres Beach, Ocheuteal Beach, Serendipity Beach but Sokha Beach is still my favorite. We also visited a small island but not the one I wanted. So next time, you’ll see me on Koh Rong Samloem for sure!
On another hand, it was very special for me to be able to show Cambodia to my friend Florian for his birthday and his girlfriend Kelly. From beginning to end, we had such amazing time together. On the plane back to France they told me it was the best trip they’ve ever done. Can’t wait for next time
From beginning to end I carefully chose all places to stay and visit. It took me a long long time to create a day-to-day itinerary but it was quite fun. I would love to do it again, but for clients this time. Feel free to ask if you would like more information on places to stay, things to do, and recommended drivers
And…
The best way to sum up our trip is this amazing video. Enjoy!
Turn up the music and go full screen.
Looking forward to going back and do something for the people and the country.
